The Johns Hopkins University School of Education and Teach For America (TFA) have collaborated to create a Master of Science in Education degree for TFA corps members and alumni and TNTP fellows and alumni. This program seeks to merge university learning with an understanding of transformational teaching.

This graduate program is fully online, with candidates located in many geographic locations. Our instructional and advising teams also represent a broad array of localities and experience in education. They are unified by a passion for transformational impact in the classroom and for providing focused support and leadership to graduate candidates.

The purpose of this site is to provide information about each of the part-time roles that supports candidates in our program, so that potential applicants are able to make informed choices about which role may be best suited to their skills and interests. The program is fully online. All roles require a significant degree of technological dexterity. With very few exceptions all interactions take place over email, other web tools, or phone.
Advisor
Advisors support current candidates in the collaborative partnership between the MSEd Program, Teach For America, and TNTP. Each advisor is assigned between 75-100 candidates that they will work with over the course of the candidates' progress through the program.
Advisors must make a two-year commitment to ensure they are able to work with their advisees throughout the entirety of the candidates' program experience. Contracts are issued one year at a time and renewals are based on performance and enrollments.
Instructor
Instructors teach one or more courses each semester. Responsibilities include developing and fostering a course culture that is supportive and responsive to learning at a high level. This is achieved through active and continual communication with candidates, as well as through providing meaningful and constructive feedback on course assessments.

Instructors commit one semester at a time. Renewals are based on performance and enrollment.
Capstone Coach
Capstone Coaches guide a group of candidates through their capstone portfolio. Coaches review drafts of the capstone and give critical feedback for revisions to bring capstones into alignment with rubrics.
